As far back as I can remember I’ve been in construction, engineering and home remodeling. My dad and grandfather were both very handy around the house. I learned a lot from them and was always amazed that they could build or fix anything. My dad earned a BS in Engineering after he got out of the Army and went on to own an HVAC company. I was able to work at his office on weekends, summers, and vacations learning every job there. I worked summers in the field with plumbers, welders, pipe fitters, sheet metal workers, electricians, and even carpenters. I followed in dad’s footsteps earning my own BS in Mechanical Engineering and then returned to work at dad’s company. I also became a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in Florida and 10 other states as the company expanded to include design work. My many duties included estimator, field superintendent, designer, and management.
Eventually, I was lured to work for the premiere General Contractor in the area where I was exposed to a variety of exciting projects including hospitals, casinos, data centers, corporate offices, senior residences, churches, condos, and residential single family to high rise. Because of my previous experience, I was able to work directly with the architects and engineers on the design side to assure that our clients needs were met while also working with our own construction group inspecting and verifying that the design intent and proper construction principles were followed. Finally, I performed detailed completion inspections before training the end user and our client on the proper operation of all systems. It’s very rewarding to see how the clients are so excited to move into something that they truly appreciate because they know how much care and attention to detail was put into the final product. They know I treat their project like it was my own home. I had a line that I used with many of them that is now the motto for Grey Hawk Home Inspections, and that is: I LOOK OUT FOR YOU.
Thanks Dad and Grandpa for making all this possible.
